Understanding Feelings & Emotions
Feelings are the Compass that help us to navigate through our lives.

The Five Human Senses of Sight, Smell, Hearing, Taste & Touch ignite feelings which then help us to make "sense" of both our Internal & External worlds.

Feelings are physically felt in our Gut, hence the term "Gut Feeling"!

Many of us are blessed with the full compliment of senses from Birth (some people will have impairments & some with only one or two senses to navigate with) so why is it that when we are all faced with the same external experience, not one person shares exactly the same "feelings" as another, even though we have the same senses?

To bring a full understanding of how feelings are ignited and how we assign specific emotions to them, we need another piece of the story...

From the moment we arrive into this World until approximately 7yrs old, our child brain is in a Theta Brain Wave state (equivalent to an adult being in hypnosis or daydreaming). This means we are simply observing & recording everything we see, hear, taste, touch and smell around us. These "recordings" are then used to create our own unique Programs on how to survive within our environment.
These "programs", when used or repeated enough, begin to then form our Belief systems.

These Programs & Beliefs are stored in our sub conscious mind, in the area of the Brain known as the Limbic.
The Limbic Brain is the seat of all emotional control.

Fun Fact: The Limbic Brain is fully functioning from week 26 of pregnancy & "practices" processing by absorbing the Mother's emotions!

When a "feeling" is ignited in our gut, a chain reaction begins within our body. Chemicals, hormones, neural outputs are all taking place and these pass through our Heart.
Our Heart has a complex neural network that is sufficiently extensive to be characterised as a brain on the heart. We all know the saying "are you thinking with your heart or your head"!

Our Heart then translates the feeling being felt into an Emotion and sends this data to our (mind) Brain where our program on how to react or "survive" is put into action.
Our reactions on how to "survive" the emotion will depend on the Program we hold in our Limbic Brain, or Filing Cabinet as I like to refer to it. This is why Individually we react so differently to the same experiences.
Let's paint a picture so you can see this is action...
You look outside and see it's raining and the skies are overcast.

Person A "feels" sad (feeling) & miserable (emotion).
Person B "feels" happy (feeling) & excited (emotion).

During Person A's formative years, their primary caregivers felt sad & miserable when it rained. They would avoid going outdoors and instead preferred to stay indoors preparing some lovely hot soup (taste) and homemade bread (smell) to cheer themselves up.
During Person B's formative years, their primary caregivers felt happy & excited when it rained. They would go outside and feel the rain on their faces (touch) & breathe in the fresh air (smell).
During their Formative years (0-7yrs) both observed their caregivers, recorded, programmed & stored how to "feel" when it rained. They learned the Emotion & stored the reaction or action to use to "survive" the experience.

I think we'd agree that Person A's program is less empowering than Person B's.

Whenever Person A has ANY experience that ignites sadness or feeling miserable, they will likely turn to Food for comfort and to feel better....this is not limited to an actual rainy day but to all the metaphorical "rainy days" that Person A experiences.
Person B holds a more empowering program which allows them to have a more positive experience promoting wellness in their life.

As I mentioned at the beginning, feelings are our compass to living a happier, healthier and more empowering life. The higher the "vibration" of the emotion the more empowered we feel. The lower the vibration the more disempowered we feel.
When we feel these lower emotional states, they are showing us where we are holding a program or belief system that does not support us in our Birthright to live a happy, balanced and fulfilling life.
Once we become aware of the Programs, conditioning & Beliefs we created to survive our environment growing up, we can begin to understand how our feelings & emotions are creating our life experiences.
Scientific research has proven that 95% of our day is lived from our subconscious mind (observed, learned & Stored programs, conditioning & beliefs) and that 75% of our Programmes & Beliefs are disempowering or negative!
